Las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) están cambiando la faz del mundo, pero podrían cambiar también sus estructuras y su espíritu en favor de una sociedad abierta, libre, democrática y con oportunidadaes de desarrollo para todos. ¿Qué es necesario hacer o deshacer para lograrlo? ¿Qué caminos hay que seguir para preservar el espíritu libre y comunitario con el que nació Internet? Este espacio de intercambio, en el marco del proceso de la Cumbre Mundial sobre la Sociedad de la Información, brinda una oportunidad para que todos los actores y testigos de la "era de la información" puedan opinar y debatir sobre estos temas cruciales.

INFOPOVERTY PROGRAM OF THE WORLD SUMMIT OF THE INFORMATION SOCIETY (WSIS) INFOPOVERTY PROGRAM OF THE WORLD SUMMIT OF THE INFORMATION SOCIETY (WSIS) In the ambit of the World Summit of the Information Society OCCAM will present, the 16th November 2005, the actions of the Infopoverty Program for 2006 during the Infopoverty Seminar, that will be concluded by the signature of agreements with Madagascar and Dominican Republic for the realization of digital villages on the model of the one built for the Tunisian Community of Borj Touil, which will be active as a demo during the Summit. In the occasion of the World Summit on the Information Society, programmed in Tunis the 16-18th November 2005, OCCAM will organize the Infopoverty Seminar, that will be carried out in Bizerte room in Tunis the 16th November from 1 to 3 am and that will be included in the official list of Summit’s collateral events. The Infopoverty Seminar will be focused on: • ICT village model for the Tunisian Community of Borj Touil, with broadband applications for telemedicine, e-learning and e-governance development. • Replicability of the model for other developing countries in the ambit of UN Public-Private Alliance for Rural Development. • Agreement with Navajo Nation and ITU for the creation of a specific model for the necessities of native communities. • Ville-village initiative, for the creation of digital twinnings between local agencies of rich Countries and developing Countries. The Summit represents an epochal event for the diffusion of new communication technologies all over the world, first encouraging disadvantaged communities development, than allowing, concretely, the opening of new markets for the most innovative companies.
